Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar reacted to the social media trolling of Sonakshi Sinha over her upcoming “interfaith marriage.”
The Dabangg star is expected to tie the knot with Zaheer Iqbal on June 23.
While Sinha’s fans expressed excitement and best wishes for the couple as they are set to begin a new chapter in their lives, others began trolling the actress over her interfaith marriage.
Now, Swara Bhaskar who is married to Samajwadi Party’s Fahad Ahmad, backed Sonakshi Sinha after she and Zaheer Iqbal were trolled over their wedding, an Indian media outlet reported.
“One of the biggest myths of modern India is ‘love jihad’, where a Hindu girl marries a Muslim man. This applies to me as well. An interfaith couple can actually get beaten up in certain cities on Valentine’s Day. Lots of experts offered their opinions during my wedding as well,” she said.
However, she said that the decision was of two adults and it was “nobody’s business if they’re living together, getting married in a court, or having a nikaah, or an Arya Samaj wedding.”

“It’s Sonakshi’s life; she’s chosen her partner. Her partner has chosen her. Now it’s between them and their families. I find this a very time-wasting debate,” Swara Bhaskar added.
Recalling the controversy over the names of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s kids, she said that Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal will likely go through the same when they have a child.
“We’ve seen it happen with Kareena and Saif’s kids, and with my kid. It’s completely idiotic, but this isn’t going to end anytime soon,” she added.
Bhaskar married Samajwadi Party’s Fahad Ahmad on February 16, 2023 and the couple has a daughter named Raabiyaa.
While Sinha and Iqbal have not publicly confirmed their wedding plans, actor and politician, Poonam Dhillon, who shares a close bond with the Sinha family, confirmed in a new interview that the wedding is indeed happening and she has also received a lovely invite from the couple.
“I wish Sonakshi all the very best. She has sent a lovely invitation,” said Dhillon.
