Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui believes that villagers and underprivileged people don’t get depressed.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui claimed people from urban areas exaggerate even the smallest emotion. The actor claimed his father slapped him when he told him he felt depressed.

“I come from a place where, if I would tell my father that I am feeling depressed, he would give me one tight slap,” he said. “Depression waha nahi tha, kisi ko bhi nahi hota waha depression, sab khush hai (No one gets depression in villages, everyone is happy there).”

The ‘Gangs of Wasseypur‘ star said he learnt about anxiety, depression, and bipolar after coming to the city.

The Bollywood actor added that people from underprivileged areas live according to their circumstances. He said people, who belong to well-off families, contract such “diseases”.

“If you ask a labourer, or someone who is sleeping on the footpath, then what is depression? When it rains, they dance even then, usko expletives depression nahi pata hota (they don’t know what depression is). Jab aapke paas paise aajate hai toh iss tareeke ki beemariya aati jaati hai (You get such diseases when you get rich),” he said.

On the professional front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is awaiting the release of his romantic-comedy ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra‘. He will share the screen with Neha Sharma.
